Montra Trance Pro 219 Review

Montra is one of the top bicycle brands in India and they have been consistent in launching a new range every year with repeat models and new releases as well. From the 2019 range we got the opportunity to test ride the Montra Trance Pro and here is what we thought. Weight: 13 kgs Usage: Fitness/Commute

A comfortable and smooth to ride hybrid bicycle for fitness and commuting.

Montra Trance Pro 2019

Snapshot

The Montra Trance Pro (2019) is built around a strong Aluminium Alloy frame. The frame strength can be felt when riding, thanks to its top and bottom tubes. This lightweight frame helped in riding fast and accelerating quickly. The riding posture was comfortable with a slanting top tube. The bulged seat tube which has been there for a few years now does help a little in absorbing vibration of the surface making it easy on the back. The Trance Pro comes with Rigid Steel fork which is strong and bladed.

This Alloy frame with a rigid steel fork comes in sizes ranging from Small to XL

The Trance Pro (2019) is equipped with Shimano Tourney derailleurs at both the front and rear. These entry-level derailleurs were just enough for the commutes and longer rides as well. These derailleurs are operated by 21-Speed Shimano trigger shifters. Shimano Tourney's are the most basic gearing components and for the price of this bicycle an Altus rear derailleur could have made this bicycle value for money.

The Shimano Tourney 21-Speed derailleurs worked well and are suitable for commutes and long distance rides

The Montra Trance Pro (2019) which I test rode came in a full Carbon Black frame with Graphite Grey and Neon Orange as the secondary colours for design and graphics. The matte finish paint job was of great quality which made the bicycle look premium. The disconnected top and bottom tubes made the bicycle look a little taller and the bulged seat tube looked unique and stylish.

Trance Pro 219 comes in a single colour variant; Matte Black with Grey and Neon Orange graphics

The Trance Pro has always had V-brakes and the same has continued in this 219 variant. Power branded V-brakes handle the stopping power on this Hybrid Bicycle. With long arms and wide brake pads the braking was safe and balanced and also easy to adjust from time to time. The XMR handlebar was wide and with a slight raise from the middle which made for a perfect riding posture. The grips on the handlebar didn’t have a palm support and might require gloves for long distance rides.

The Power V-Brakes felt powerful and balanced to use on urban roads

The 7x35C hybrid tires gave great rolling resistance on flat tarmacs and had good treads for safe riding on bad roads. The double walled Alloy rims are capable of taking the weight of the rider plus some luggage in case of touring without affecting its balance and strength. The XMR saddle is designed for comfort. It is wide and well cushioned to keep the rider soreness free while on the saddle for long hours.

The 7x35C hybrid tires with XMR Alloy rims were well treaded, strong and fast rolling

This Hybrid bicycle has a strong Alloy frame with a comfortable riding posture. The Power V-brakes were powerful and balanced to use. The matte finish paint job and the Black/Neon Orange combination was stylish and premium. Priced at Rs.19,65(as on 6th August 219) the Montra Trance Pro (2019) is an ideal choice for anyone looking to buy a bicycle for commuting, fitness and occasional long distance rides.Prices and Specifications/Components are subject to change by the brand, without due notice.
