Firefox Breeze 26 - Review

The Firefox Breeze has been made using a traditional steel frame. While steel does increase the overall weight of the bicycle, it is extremely durable and withstands harsh riding conditions. The bicycle has a low step-through frame, which makes it specifically suited to women riders. The geometry of the frame ensures a comfortable, upright riding position. Additionally, the women specific frame design enables easier mounting and dismounting. This bicycle comes equipped with a Zoom suspension fork, with minimum travel that is sufficient for city riding. The bicycle is available in a single frame size, corresponding to about 17”. The frame does not have provision for a bottle cage mount.

The Firefox Breeze 26” is a single-speed bicycle. The bicycle is ideal for city commuting and leisure riding. Single speed bicycles are known for simple pedaling and lower maintece and upkeep costs. However, extra pedaling effort would be required while riding on elevations in the city, like on flyovers or in cities with variable terrain.

The Firefox Breeze 26” has been designed keeping simplicity in mind. The welding on the edges of the frame looked simple and neat. The bicycle we test rode came in a peach-pink with a matte finish and blue and black decals. The overall look of the bicycle is simple and eye-catching. The Firefox Breeze 26” comes equipped with V-Brakes at the front and rear that offer adequate stopping power for city usage. However, the brakes are not as effective when riding on wet and slippery surfaces, and require some extra force to bring the bicycle to a complete stop. The handlebar on the Firefox Breeze 26 is a 58mm steel handlebar which ensures a comfortable, upright riding position. The width of the handlebar allows for superior control and maneuverability in crowded riding conditions. The handlebar grips were on the harder side, which might affect cyclists using the bicycle for longer duration rides.

The 26” x 2.1” Wanda tires that come with the Firefox Breeze 26 are sturdy and could possibly be why this bicycle can be used on simple trails apart from the city. The front wheel is fitted with a quick release, which makes removing and putting the wheel back on much simpler. The thicker width of the tires makes the bicycle more stable and balanced on bumpy surfaces, additionally the well-spaced, defined treading on the tires offer for a superior grip while on the road.
