Firefox Dart Pro 7S Review

Firefox's range of full suspension city bicycles for teenagers has always been built with strength and vibrant colours. These bicycles with their constant development have made sure that they can be used by adults as well for short city commutes. We got the opportunity to test ride the Firefox Dart Pro 7s and here is what we thought.

A comfortable and well-designed bicycle for short rides and city commutes.

Snapshot

The Firefox Dart Pro 7s is built on a full steel frame with dual suspension. This frame is strong and can take in a lot of hard hitting from the riding surface. The frame geometry is simple and felt very comfortable on the shoulder, elbows, knees and wrists. The overall bicycle weight at 17kgs is heavy and is felt when accelerating and climbing flyovers. This bicycles comes with a front and rear suspension. The front Zoom suspension comes with a 5mm travel which was sufficient for speed breakers and potholes on city roads. The rear suspension isn’t the most effective and needs a lot of pressure or a bigger bump to feel it working.

As in the name of this bicycle, there is a 7-Speed drivetrain equipped on the Dart Pro. This 1x7 Speed drivetrain comes with a Shimano TY3D rear derailleur. This TY3 series while isn’t the latest version of Tourney, is one of the recently released models. The gear transmission during the test ride was smooth and did not experience any lags. While a lot of 7-Speed entry-level bicycles use the traditional grip shifters, the Dart Pro comes with a M31 Shimano trigger shifters, which were a good choice and improved the gear shifting experience.

This bicycle which I test rode came in a full grey primary colour with yellow as the secondary colour. both these colours were contrasting and blended well on the frame. The matte finish paint job was of superior quality and definitely one of the best I’ve seen in this category of full suspension urban teenage bicycles. The stylish full suspension frame design and matching fork graphics will be a big hit amongst the teenage riders.

The Firefox Dart Pro 7s comes in 2 colour variants; Matte Grey with Yellow graphics and Orange with Black graphics

The Dart Pro 7s comes equipped with front and rear V-Brakes. These brakes are standard basic brakes found on this category of bicycles. During the test ride on dry roads these brakes performed well to get the bicycle to stop quickly and in a balanced manner. The 6mm steel handlebar was compact with a 3mm raise which made sure the riding posture was comfortable.

Basic front and rear V-brakes on the Dart Pro 7s performed decently on city roads

The Wanda 26” x 2.125” tires on the Dart Pro 7s were fast rolling on city roads and along with double walled alloy rims made this a good wheelset. The treads aren’t the hardest and strongest but they are sufficient to make sure they grip on to city roads. The stock Firefox saddle wasn’t the most ergonomic but had enough cushioning to make sure the rider is comfortable even on bumpy roads. The overall ride quality was comfortable on urban roads.

This bicycle with front and rear suspensions are not be mistaken for a full suspension MTB. This bicycle is meant to be ridden on urban roads which are smooth and rough. The Shimano Tourney 7-Speed rear derailleur along with trigger shifters performed well during the test ride. The matte finish paint job on the grey variant was of top quality. Priced at Rs.13,7 (as on 27th October 218) ,the Firefox Dart Pro 7s is the ideal choice for both adult and teenagers for short rides and city commutes.Prices are subject to change by the brand, without due notice.
