Firefox is an Indian performance bicycle brand with a wide range of MTBs, City and Hybrid Bicycles. Majority of their bicycle models are urban specific and are built for comfort. Firefox has a wide range of urban MTB's and we got the opportunity to test ride the Firefox Dart 2.6 201-Speed and here is what we thought.
A comfortable and value for money urban MTB for leisure rides and city commutes.
The Firefox Dart 2.6 is built on a strong steel frame with both a front and rear suspension. This steel frame is strong is capable of handling really harsh surfaces on urban roads. Thanks to the simple frame geometry, the riding posture is comfortable for short commutes and leisure urban rides. Steel frames are on the heavier side and this bicycle weighs 17kgs, which is heavy and is felt mainly during inclines and climbs on urban roads. This bicycle comes with a front and rear suspension. The front Zoom suspension comes with a 5mm travel, which was sufficient for speed breakers and potholes on city roads. The rear suspension isn’t effective enough to absorb vibrations of the road as they are too strong to function of moderate bumps on city streets.

This steel frame comes in just 1 standard frame size and weighs 17kgs
This urban MTB comes with a 21-Speed Shimano drivetrain. This 3x7 Speed drivetrain comes with Shimano Tourney front and rear derailleurs. The TX 51/35 derailleurs are entry-level but performed well during the test ride. For short commutes and leisure city rides these derailleurs are sufficient and get the job done. The EF51 Tourney 21-Speed shifters were standard triggers and were easy to use.

The Dart 2.6 21-Speed which I test rode came in a full black frame with lime yellow as the secondary colour. The contrasting colours were bright in appearance and also had a shining gloss finish to it. The rear suspension frame design was sporty and colour coded. With bulky tire treads and dual suspension forks, this bicycle does have a lot of MTB characteristics.

The Firefox Dart 2.6 comes in 3 colour variants; Black with Yellow, White with Blue and Black with Green
The Dart 2.6 comes equipped with front and rear Power V-Brakes. These brakes are standard basic brakes found on this category of bicycles. During the test ride on dry roads these brakes performed well to get the bicycle to stop quickly and in a balanced manner. The 58mm steel handlebar was compact with a 3mm raise which made sure the riding posture was comfortable.

Basic front and rear Power V-brakes on the Dart 2.6 21-Speed performed decently on city roads
The Compass 26” x 2.1” tires on the Dart 2.6 21-Speed were fast rolling on city roads and along with double walled alloy rims made this a strong wheelset to withstand rough surfaces. The treads aren’t the hardest and strongest but they are big enough to make sure they grip on to city roads. The stock Firefox saddle wasn’t the most ergonomic but had lot of cushioning to make sure the rider is comfortable even on bumpy roads. The overall ride quality was comfortable on urban roads.

This bicycle with front and rear suspensions is not be mistaken for a full suspension MTB. This bicycle is meant to be ridden on urban roads, which are smooth and rough for commuting and/or leisure rides. The Shimano Tourney 21-Speed front and rear derailleur along with trigger shifters performed well during the test ride. The 3 colour variants give the rider varied choices to choose from. Priced at Rs.14,4(as on 31st October 218) the Firefox Dart 2.6 21-Speed is the ideal choice for both adult and teenagers looking for a bicycle for short rides and city commutes.Prices are subject to change by the brand, without due notice.
