Firefox Flextrail 27.5D Review

Firefox is a top Indian bicycle manufacturer. They have bicycles for all age groups and all kinds of riders and terrains. While Firefox does not have a standard release of new bicycle models every year they do come with new releases quite a few times in a year. We got the opportunity to test ride the Firefox Flextrail 27.5D and here is what we thought. Weight: 15.4 kgs Category: Leisure/Trail

A comfortable hardtail MTB to be ridden on both trails and urban roads.

Snapshot

The Firefox Flextrail 27.5D is built on an Alloy hardtail frame. This frame is strong and makes this bicycle ready for some hard-hitting trails and rough urban roads. The frame geometry was a good mix of both aggressive and comfort. The top tube is at an incline for extra standover clearance. Being a hardtail bicycle, the Flextrail comes with a SR Suntour XCE front suspension fork with a 1mm travel.

The Firefox 27.5D comes with entry to mid-level Shimano MTB gearing components with Shimano Tourney at the front and Altus at the rear as derailleurs. These 21-Speed derailleurs were quick in transmission and worked well during the test ride. The Shimano Altus EF5 shifters were easy to use.

Shimano's 21-Speed Tourney/Altus drivetrain was simple and smooth in operation on urban roads and flat trails

This hardtail MTB that I test rode came in a Black primary frame with Fluorescent Green and Grey as secondary colours for the text and graphics. The matte finish was smooth with contrasting dark and flashy colours. The strong centre placed side stand, bottle cage eyelets on the bottom tube and mudguard mounts were good design features and useful for a hardtail MTB.

This MTB comes in 2 colour variants; Matte Black with Fluorescent Green and Grey and Matte Neon Blue with Blue Orange graphics

Tektro's Aries Mechanical Disc brakes handle the stopping power on the Flextrail 27.5D. These brakes were quick to respond on both dry and wet surfaces. These brakes from Tektro are an ideal component for a MTB at this price. The Zoom Alloy 66mm handlebar was wide and perfectly suited for fast trails and urban roads.

The JAK branded Mechanical Disc Brakes are safe and balanced to use

The Flextrail 27.5D rolls on a pair of 27.5” x 2.1” Kenda branded MTB tires. These tires are heavily treaded and provided good traction on both trails and urban roads. The uniform treading made sure maximum traction is gained on fast turns and stoppages. The Stock Saddle wasn’t the most ergonomic but had just enough cushioning for a sore free ride on bumpy surfaces.

This hardtail MTB with an Alloy frame was comfortable to ride on both flat trails and rough urban roads. The frame was strong yet lightweight. The 21-Speed Shimano Tourney/Altus drivetrain provided simple and smooth gear shifting. The Tektro branded Mechanical Disc brakes were reactive and balanced to use for quick braking. Priced at Rs.25, (as on 9th April 219) the Firefox Flextrail 27.5D is an ideal choice for anyone looking to buy an hardtail MTB for riding on trails and on urban roads.Prices are subject to change by the brand, without due notice.
