Polygon is an Indonesian bicycle brand with its headquarters in Europe now. They have slowly grown now to become a performance bicycle brand with good value for money bicycles. The Heist series is a cross hybrid which can handle both rough and smooth urban roads. We got the opportunity to test ride the Polygon Heist 2 (2018) and here is what we thought.
A strong hybrid bicycle with powerful hydraulic disc brakes and is ideal for urban roads and flat trails.

Strong Alloy frame with a high ground clearance.
Suntour NEX with 63mm Travel
The 63mm travel on the fork was just about enough for the rough patches on city roads.

The performance of gears during the test ride was smooth but the Tourney in the front is a bit slow to react, especially while shifting up.

The Heist 2 is built on an AL6 hybrid frame which is the perfect blend of strength and comfort. During the test ride the frame was able to handle the bumps and potholes while being responsive to gradual climbs and fast turns. This frame also offers a high ground clearance at the bottom bracket, which makes it possible to ride over curbs without the frame getting hit on the surface below. This is a cross hybrid which comes with a front suspension fork. The 63mm travel on the fork was just about enough for the rough patches on city roads. At this price, I was expecting the Heist 2 to have a suspension lock-out which could have made the ride faster on flat roads by making the fork rigid. Lack of a lock-out is a small negative to this bicycle.

Strong Alloy frame with a high ground clearance
The Shimano's Tourney and Altus handle the 24-Speed drivetrain on this hybrid bicycle. The Tourney at the front is the most basic gearing component in Shimano's hybrid hierarchy and Altus is the one above Tourney. The performance of gears during the test ride was smooth but the Tourney in the front is a bit slow to react, especially while shifting up. For the price of this bicycle, an Altus/Altus or an Altus/Acera would have made sense as the Tourney does bring down the overall gearing performance.

Shimano's 24-Speed Tourney/Altus handle the gearing department very efficiently
The Heist 2 which I test rode came in a full red colour frame with orange graphics in many places. The line pattern design on both the top and bottom tubes were new and refreshing. The gloss paint job was of top notch quality and has a good shine to it. The contrasting brown colour fork and colour coded rims improves the aesthetic appeal of this bicycle.

The Heist 2 comes in 2 colour variants; Red with Orange graphics and Dark Grey with Orange/Black graphics
Shimano's BR-M315 Hydraulic Disc brakes handle the braking performance on the Polygon Heist 2 (2018). These brakes were powerful and balanced on urban roads and felt safe to use even at top speeds. Hydraulic Disc brakes from Shimano on a bicycle at this price is definitely a steal. The 7mm handlebar was wide enough for a comfortable riding posture as well a slight raise from the middle to keep the rider upright while riding.

Shimano's Hydraulic Sisc brakes were balanced and powerful to use on both wet and dry surfaces
A Cross Hybrid is a bicycle where the MTB characteristics are slightly more than that of a road bicycle. The 7x4c Schwalbe Smart Sam tires are treaded as good as any mid-level MTB tires while still being sleek and rolling fast on urban roads. The Entity saddle was MTB specific and had the perfect width and length to keep the rider safe and comfortable.

The Schwalbe Smart Sam 7x4c tires were well treaded and fast rolling on urban roads
The is a cross hybrid with a strong alloy frame which can handle the hard hitting of curbs and rough patches on urban roads as well as be responsive to maneuver in traffic. The powerful Hydraulic Disc brakes and well-treaded yet fast rolling 7x4c tires make this bicycle ride-able on both urban roads and flat trails. Priced at Rs.29,99 the Polygon Heist 2 (2018) is an ideal choice for anyone looking to buy a bicycle for commuting during the weekdays and flat trail or longer tarmac rides on the weekends.Prices are subject to change by the brand, without due notice.
