Introduction
The CatEye AMPP 1100RC Headlight is a high-power rechargeable LED bicycle headlight, designed for cyclists who ride in low light or night conditions, or need visibility in traffic. With 1100 lumens output and multiple lighting modes, it caters to serious commuters, trail riders, and anyone whose ride spans dawn/dusk or urban roads. If you want one light that handles both on-road safety and off-road visibility, this is built for that.
Design & Build Quality
The AMPP1100 features a twin-LED layout with CatEye’s Opti Cube lens technology, which helps spread a broad and even beam. The body is fairly compact (48 × 105 × 34mm) and weighs about 200 grams including its battery pack. The casing is water-resistant to IPX4, which means it handles splashes and light rain but isn’t fully waterproof for immersions. It also includes a robust Flex Tight bracket, helmet mount, and optional center-fork bracket, so mounting options are flexible.
Performance & Features
This headlight does well in performance. In High mode (1100lm), runtime is about 1.5 hours; in Mid 800lm about 2 hours; Low 400lm about 4.5 hours. There is also a Daytime Hyper Constant mode (1100/400lm) giving around 6.5 hours, and a Flashing mode (~200lm) lasts up to 50 hours. It has a built-in battery indicator (three colours: blue / yellow / red) so you know roughly how much charge is left. Charging is via Micro-USB, taking about 3-5 hours. Other useful features include mode memory (so it returns to the last mode used), side visibility (important for safety), and fast recharging circuitry.

Verdict
The CatEye AMPP1100RC Headlight is a premium upgrade for cyclists needing bright, reliable lighting with versatility. It’s especially excellent for commuters, night riders, or mixed terrain where safety and visibility are key. If weight and waterproofing are less of a concern, the performance and build make it a strong recommendation. For riders on tighter budgets or lighter-weight demands, consider alternatives but if you want high lumen output + feature-rich headlight, this is among the best.
