The Shimano Altus 2×8-speed drivetrain provides 16 gears for handling a variety of urban riding conditions. The 22/36T crankset works with the 11-34T cassette to provide useful lower gearing for inclines and comfortable ratios for flatter roads. The drivetrain is straightforward to operate and well suited to regular commuting. Riders can shift between gears to maintain a comfortable pedaling cadence as speeds and terrain change. While it is not designed for high-performance racing, the setup delivers dependable everyday performance. For city riding and recreational cycling, the Dew offers a practical and versatile drivetrain.

Comfort is one of the key strengths of the Kona Dew, particularly for riders who spend considerable time on city roads. The Kona riser handlebar supports a more relaxed riding posture and provides good control through traffic. The commuter-focused saddle is designed to complement the bicycle's upright geometry. Its wide 650×47C tires provide additional cushioning and stability over rough patches, cracks and uneven pavement. The overall geometry keeps the bicycle predictable and comfortable during longer rides. As a result, the Dew is well suited to both daily commuting and relaxed recreational cycling.

The Tektro MDM280 mechanical disc brakes provide dependable stopping performance for everyday urban riding. Their 160mm rotors offer controlled braking when navigating traffic, junctions and changing road conditions. Mechanical disc brakes are also relatively simple to maintain and service compared with more complex systems. The Kona riser handlebar gives the rider a comfortable steering position with good control at lower and moderate speeds. Combined with the stable frame geometry, the steering feels predictable and confidence-inspiring. Overall, the Dew's braking and steering setup is well matched to its urban purpose.

The Kona Dew uses 27.5-inch wheels paired with wide WTB Horizon Comp tires, creating a combination focused on stability and comfort.
