The ST-1 uses a hi-tensile steel hybrid frame, designed with endurance-friendly geometry that supports upright and comfortable posture. Steel frames are naturally shock-absorbent, which helps smooth out road buzz, especially in cities with mixed conditions. The frame feels solid and confidence-inspiring, especially at slow and medium speeds.

The Battalion ST-1 uses a 1×7 Shimano Tourney drivetrain paired with a 14–28T freewheel. This setup keeps things simple while offering enough range for city inclines, bridges, and fitness rides. The absence of a front derailleur reduces maintenance and makes shifting intuitive.

Comfort is one of the ST-1’s strengths. The steel frame absorbs vibrations well, making it suitable for varied Indian road surfaces. The upright handlebar position reduces strain on the shoulders and neck, helping during long commutes.

The ST-1 uses mechanical disc brakes, a valuable upgrade in this price bracket. Disc brakes offer consistent stopping power regardless of weather conditions. In my testing, braking was predictable and strong enough for urban speeds. Modulation felt smooth, and braking distance was better than typical V-brakes in wet situations.

The ST-1 is fitted with 700C double-wall alloy rims, which add strength and durability compared to single-wall rims. They held true under typical commuting load and felt stable at higher speeds.

The 700×35C hybrid tyres contribute significantly to grip and comfort. They offer enhanced stability on wet surfaces and mild gravel sections. These tyres make the bike versatile enough for both smooth tarmac and broken inner roads.
