Cannondale Quick 7 (2019) - Review

The Cannondale Quick 7 features a lightweight SmartForm Alloy frame. Cannondale are one of the industry leaders in Aluminium frame design and the Quick frame features S.A.V.E (Synapse Active Vibration Elimination) vibration damping for a smooth ride over rough roads. The S.A.V.E micro-suspension technology is featured in specific areas on the frame, fork and seat post that are engineered to flex to absorb shock and vibration. The frame geometry is comfortable with a slanting top tube, which gives more standover clearance. The rigid alloy fork looks bladed but are strong enough to handle rough patches.

The Cannondale Quick 7 is equipped with Shimano's Acera at the rear and Shimano's Altus at the front. These gears are mid-level componentry in Shimano's Hybrid hierarchy. This drivetrain with a 24-Speed combination (3x8) helped have a wide range of speeds for steep climbs and accelerations. The EF5 shifters were comfortable to use with easy clicks.

The Quick 7 which I test rode came in a full Acid Red frame with Black as the secondary colour for the minimal graphics and text. The design ideology of the Quick series has always remained more or less the same, single prominent colours with subtle graphics. The gloss finish paint job quality was top notch and enhanced the bright Red colour. A small setback is that at Rs.42,92 (as on 2nd July 219) you still aren’t getting internal cable routing for this bicycle.

Cannondale's stock V-brakes handle the stopping on the Quick 7 (2019). During the test ride these brakes performed well with good performance on dry roads. The lengthy arms and brake pads helped get a balanced braking performance and were no less than a Mechanical Disc brake. That being said, I felt it would have been ideal if Cannondale did feature Mechanical Disc brakes rather than stock V-brakes for the Quick 7's price tag.The Cannondale C4 handlebar on the Quick 7 was 64mm in width which felt perfect for a comfortable and open chested riding posture. The ergo grips with palm padding made sure the rider's palms were rested properly for a pain free ride on bumpy roads.

Kenda's Kourier 7x35C tires on the Quick 7 (2019) were fast rolling and had perfect treading for providing good traction on smooth and urban roads. Fast turns and sudden brakes were also balanced on the tarmac surface with a good rolling resistance. The stock Cannondale Fitness Ergo double density saddle was deigned ergonomically to make sure the rider's sit bones are perfectly placed on the widest part of the saddle. The double density padding made sure the rider is never sore on long rides or on bumpy roads.
