Firefox is a top Indian bicycle manufacturer. Born from the umbrella of Hero cycles, Firefox is now a separate brand by itself. They have bicycles for all age groups and all kinds of riders and terrains. While Firefox does not have a standard release of new bicycle models every year they do come with new releases quite a few times in a year. We got the opportunity to test ride the Firefox Cyclone DD 26” and here is what we thought. Weight: 14.8 kgs Category: Leisure/Commuting

The Firefox Cyclone DD 26 is built on an Alloy hardtail frame. This frame is strong and robust which makes this bicycle ready for some hard-hitting trails and rough urban roads. The frame geometry was a good mix of both aggression and comfort. The top tube only has a slight incline and also shaped well so as to use minimum material and keep the weight low. Being a hardtail bicycle, the Cyclone DD 26” comes with a Zoom front suspension fork with a minimal 5mm travel for those minor bumps.

The Cyclone DD 26” is built on an Alloy hardtail frame and comes in 2 frame sizes; 18” and 19.5”
The Firefox DD 26” comes with entry-level Shimano/Microshift MTB gearing components with Shimano Tourney at the front and rear as derailleurs. These derailleurs even though being basic worked well during the test ride. The shifting process was smooth but there were a few instances of lag in shifting in the front derailleur. The Shimano EF5/Microshift shifters were easy to use.
"
The 21-Speed Tourney drivetrain was simple and smooth in operation on urban roads and flat trails
The Cyclone DD 26” that I test rode came in a Blue primary colour on the frame with Yellow and White graphics. The matte finish paint job was smooth and gave a premium look to this bicycle. The graphics and text font were placed nicely and made the design look neat. The contrasting colour combination makes the bicycle stand out in a crowd.

The Cyclone 26 DD comes in 2 colour variants; Matte Blue and Matte Silver
The JAK branded Mechanical Disc Brakes on the Cyclone DD 26 had sufficient power and felt balanced for stoppages on both urban roads and flat trails. Sudden braking isn’t the fastest to halt but interval braking is comfortable. The brake levers felt average in build but comfortable to use. The 64mm handlebar was wide and gave an open chested riding posture.

The JAK branded Mechanical Disc Brakes were safe and balanced to use
The Cyclone DD 26 rolls on a pair of 26” x 2.125” MTB tires. These tires were heavily treaded and provided good traction on both wet and dry surfaces. The uniform treading made sure that cornering with these tires felt balanced. The stock saddle was both ergonomic and had the perfect width to keep the rider comfortable and stable on bumpy rides.

This hardtail MTB with an Alloy frame was comfortable to ride on both smooth and rough urban roads. The 21-Speed drivetrain provided simple and smooth gear shifting.
