Snapshot

The GT Avalanche Sport 27.5 (2019) is built on a T6 Aluminium hardtail frame. This frame has GT's patented triple triangle design geometry. The geometry helps in even weight distribution and also helps absorb vibrations of the trail, which in turn gives the rider a comfortable riding experience with lesser fatigue. The SR Suntour XCT-DS front suspension fork comes with a 1mm travel. This suspension fork worked smoothly and the manual hydraulic suspension lockout helped making the fork rigid which in turn helps the rider to ride faster and accelerate easier on flatter surfaces.

This hardtail MTB is equipped with a 3x9-Speed Shimano Alivio at the rear and Altus at the front as derailleurs. While Alivio and Altus are a combination of lower and higher level combination of derailleurs, the shifting performance was smooth. The Shimano Altus 27-Speed shifters were easy to use with a swift spring action.

The Avalanche Sport 29 which I test rode came in a full Aqua Blue frame with Black as the secondary colour for text and graphics. The gloss paint job was of great quality which was shining. The triple triangle frame design was neat and elegant with thin tubing with smoothly welded edges.

The Tektro Hydraulic Disc brakes were powerful, reactive and balanced to use during the test ride. These brakes are ideal for fast trail rides and the brake levers needed very less pressure to engage them. The All-Terra MTB Alloy handlebar was 72mm wide and this made sure the rider has an open chested posture gives the rider total control over the bicycle.

The GT Avalanche Sport 27.5 (2019) rolls on a pair of 27.5” x 2.25” WTB Transition tires. These tires were heavily treaded with bulky buttons which were evenly spread. The 27.5” circumference made sure the tires could roll faster which is useful for flat road rides in the city and also to get to that nearby trail from your house. The All Terra MTB specific saddle was ergonomically designed to make sure the riders sit bones are perfectly placed on the widest points of the saddle.

This hardtail MTB had a simple and sleek tube profile with the triple triangle design geometry that helps with weight distribution. The ride was fast and the 27.5” tires were fast rolling on flat roads and have bulky treads for rough trails. The 27-Speed Altus/Alivio drivetrain was smooth in shifting and the Tektro Hydraulic Disc brakes were powerful.
