The Montra Metal 29” (2019) is built using a strong 661 hardtail Alloy frame. This frame has a slanting top tube which gives extra stand over clearance for the rider. This helps when riding on bumpy trails with lots of up's and down's. The tubes are bigger and bulky at the joints and sleeker at other places which kept the weight at check while being strong enough to take in vibrations of the surface. This is a hardtail MTB and comes with a front suspension fork. The Zoom suspension fork comes with a 6mm travel, which was just enough to tackle bumpy roads and easy trails. The mechanical suspension lockout feature is useful and helps make the fork rigid to make riding on flatter surfaces easier.

This hardtail MTB is equipped with Shimano Tourney at the front and rear as derailleurs. These gears are entry-level in the Shimano MTB hierarchy and they were efficient in shifting during the test ride with smooth gear transmissions. This is the first time on a Montra we are seeing an 8-Speed Tourney as the rear derailleur and this makes it an overall 24-Speed combination that gives that extra range for speed. The Tourney EasyFire 24-Speed shifters were easy to use.

The bicycle which I test rode came in a full Carbon Black coloured frame with Neon Red as the secondary colour for text and graphics. The matte finish paint job was of superior quality giving a smooth finish. The graphic design was simple yet elegant and the dark-neon colour combination was contrasting and aesthetic. The internal cable routing made the bicycle look neat and also protected the cables from dust and external impact.

Logan's Mechanical Disc brakes handle the stopping power on the Metal 29” (2019). These brakes were quick to respond on both dry and wet surfaces. These brakes from Logan are ideal braking components for rough urban roads and easy trails. The XMR Alloy handlebar was wide and perfectly suited for having a comfortable handlebar posture and full control of the bicycle on fast paced trail rides and roads.

The Kenda 29” x 2.1” MTB tires on the Metal 29” (2019) is heavily treaded and this helps in rolling over rough trails easily. The treads are spread out in a uniform manner which helps get enough traction even on fast turns. The XMR Saddle was ergonomically designed to make sure the rider is sore free when riding over bumpy surfaces.

This hardtail MTB has extra standover clearance thanks to its slanting top tube. The Tourney/Tourney 3x8-Speed derailleurs are smooth in trasnmission. Logan's Mechanical Disc brakes are powerful enough for fast paced rides on the trails and rough roads. The 29” x 2.1” tires are both fast rolling and heavily treaded to provide enough traction on rough surfaces. Priced at Rs.22,8 (as on 3rd July 219) the Montra Metal 29” (2019) is an ideal choice for anyone looking to buy an MTB to ride on easy to moderate trails and rough urban roads.Prices and Specifications/Components are subject to change by the brand, without due notice.
