Roadeo has been an established bicycle brand for many years now. Their cycles are mainly targeted at the teenage riders, for commuting and leisure riding in the neighborhood. Over the years Roadeo has developed its bicycles to be ridden by adults as well and also on rough surfaces. From the 2018 range of Roadeo we got the opportunity to test ride the Hannibal 27.5 (2018) and here is what we thought. Weight: 18.4 kgs Usage: Leisure/Commute

A recreational Urban MTB with a flashy design and built for comfortable city commuting and leisure rides.

Snapshot

The Hannibal's frame is built with Tensile Steel making it heavy but strong. A common characteristic of a Steel frame is its weight and it is very important to use the right amount to make sure the teenager using this bicycle does not feel the heaviness while riding. During the test ride I felt the heaviness to an extent only while climbing on inclined roads and flyovers when I got off the saddle to give that extra push. The Steel threadless front suspension fork had a working travel of around 65mm. The rear suspension under the saddle worked to an extent and it was clearly felt when mounting curbs and speed breakers during the test ride.

The Hannibal 27.5 (2018) comes equipped with Shimano Tourney at the front and rear as derailleurs. These are entry-level gearing components in Shimano's MTB and Hybrid bicycle hierarchy and they performed to their limits during the test ride. On urban roads riding amidst traffic, these derailleurs were ideal for quick and short gear changes. The EZ Fire Shimano trigger shifters were easy to use and in easy reach from the handlebar grips.

The Shimano Tourney 21-Speed derailleurs were sufficient for short commutes on urban roads

One of the most important aspects of a teenage bicycle is the design and the Roadeo Hannibal 27.5 (2018) has done well in this department. The Hannibal comes in 2 colour variants. The one I test rode came in a Matte Black frame with Orange and Blue graphics. There were matching graphics on every component starting from the saddle to the rims, which made sure that the bicycle looks flashy and is sure to make heads turn on the streets.

This Urban MTB's stopping power is handled by a pair of Mechanical Disc brakes at the front and rear. These brakes were powerful, safe and balanced to use when used on rough and smooth roads. Both interval and jamming of brakes felt in control when used during the test ride. The XMR Alloy 6mm handlebar on this bicycle was both comfortable and wide enough to give the rider an open chested riding posture.

The Roadeo Hannibal comes equipped with 27.5” x 2.125” MTB tires that are fit onto Double Walled XMR Alloy rims. The treading on the tires enable the bicycle to tackle harsh riding surfaces without a hassle. 27.5” wheels enable ease of usage both on the road and while riding flat off-roads. The XMR PU Saddle was padded enough to keep the rider comfortable and was also filled with textual graphics on them which made it look flashy.

The Roadeo Hannibal is intended to be used in city conditions around the neighborhood or on short commutes. It can handle the traffic well, which requires constant braking, but the acceleration after the stoppages or on inclines might be tougher due to the slightly heavier Steel frame. Specification wise this bicycle is packed with the most a teenager will look for in a bicycle. Priced at Rs.15,675 (as on 3th March 219) the Roadeo Hannibal 27.5 (2018) is an ideal bicycle for any teenager for leisure neighborhood riding and short daily commutes.Prices are subject to change by the brand, without due notice.
