The AL Tech 661 Alloy frame on the Urban Cross is built to be lightweight with premium quality. The tubes are butted which means that excess material is removed from low stress areas of the frame, reducing the weight without affecting durability or ride quality. The frame tubes are shaped to offer a riding experience that remains stiff and smooth. The taller head tube ensured the frame is taller and thus giving the rider an upright and comfortable riding posture. The stock Rockfire front suspension fork comes with an 8mm travel which ensured a smooth ride over rough urban roads and a suspension lockout for faster rides on flatter surfaces.

The Rockfire Urban Cross features a Shimano Tourney/Acera drivetrain. The 3-Speed Tourney derailleur at the front and 7-Speed Acera derailleur at the rear are a mid-level component mix providing super smooth gear shifting making it ideal for commuting and fitness rides on urban roads. The 3x7-Speed Shimano trigger shifters were standard and easy to use.

The Rockfire Urban Cross which we test rode came in a full Gloss Grey Olive colour frame with Grey and Orange as the secondary colours for graphics. The gloss finish paint job and the quality of the Gloss decals were top notch and made the frame look stylish. The thin seat stays and chain stays made the Bicycle look sleek.

The braking components on the Urban Cross are Logan Mechanical Disc brakes. The Disc brakes at the front and rear were reliable and balanced during the test ride. The reaction time from the levers to the brakes was quick. These brakes are good for wet and dry urban roads and the quality and performance of these brakes were definitely on par with any other performance focused mid-level Mechanical Disc brakes in the market. The riser-sport handlebar was wide and made sure the rider has an open chested riding posture. The raise is a gradual curve which makes it look good as well.

The 7c wheels on the Urban Cross offer a Road Bicycle like rolling speed and efficiency. The DSI 7x35c Hybrid tires are wide enough to offer a little more cushioning for a smoother ride on uneven road surfaces. The Rockfire stock saddle was ergonomically designed and had a lot of cushioning to keep the rider sore free.
