Bike Ark Daz (2019) - Review

The Bike Ark Daz (2019) is built on a Hi-Tensile Steel frame. Steel frames are perceived to be heavy but the build quality has made sure the weight is less. This made the ride smoother and easy to accelerate, even on inclines and flyovers in the city. This is a rigid hybrid with no suspension. The rigid fork was flat and aero which also contributed to the overall weight being less.

There are no visible changes in the gearing department of the Bike Ark Daz (2019) when compared to its predecessor. Shimano's Tourney TZ3 in the front and Shimano TZ5 at the rear complete the 21-Speed derailleur system. Tourney's are considered entry-level in the Shimano hierarchy but this recent version of Tourney derailleurs are not only sleek in design but they were also smooth in shifting during the test ride. The shifting was smooth and no lag was experienced during the test ride. Shifters for this 21-Speed derailleurs are the EF5 model from Shimano.

Bike Ark has always been on point with their design, since their very first fixed bicycle models to their hybrids from 218. It's safe to say the Mag-Alloy wheels were the stand-out feature on the design front on Bike Ark. The Daz hybrid is one of the 3 hybrid models and it comes with a single mag-alloy wheel in the front. Apart from being extremely stylish the mag wheel could also contribute a bit it to the wheel being a bit aerodynamic. The Daz which I test rode came in a half and half Black/White on the bicycle. The matte finish paint job was smooth and neatly done.

The 219 Bike Ark Daz's stopping power is handled by a pair of Z-Star road type caliper brakes. These dual pivot brakes come with forged aluminium arms and a recessed mount which grab on to the rims quickly and tightly for swift and powerful stoppages. The lightweight design and quick release mechanism makes it easy easier to remove and put back.The 6mm riser handlebar was perfect in length and gave the rider an upright riding posture. The grips felt a bit hard on the hand and could have had more cushioning.

The Kenda Kwest 7x35c tires on the Daz were ideal for city roads. They were fast rolling and the tread pattern gave enough traction to keep the bicycle safe on slight muddy surfaces and fast turns. The front rim comes with mag wheels and rear rims come with deep-dish spoke type. The Ergo Stock Saddle was designed with perfect length and width to make sure the rider is comfortable on both bumpy and long rides.
