Hero Cycles is one of the biggest and most successful bicycle brands in India. Hero has been around for more than 6 years now and has various categories of bicycles with a few sub-brands under them. The sub-brands being Hero Sprint, Hero Sprint Pro and Hero Octane. We got the opportunity to test ride the Hero Sprint Pro Overdrive 27.5T and here is what we thought. The Shimano TY500 front and rear derailleurs with 21-Speed shifters were basic and easy to shift.

The Repute Mechanical Disc brakes at the front and rear were balanced on both wet and dry roads.

The 27.5” x 2.1” DSI MTB tires were fast rolling and heavily treaded which provided great traction.

: The Hero Sprint Pro Overdrive 27.5T is built on a strong hardtail Steel frame. The frame geometry is a mix of comfort and aggressiveness with a higher standover clearance because of the slanting top tube. The ground clearance is also high which makes sure the frame can easily get through rough bumpy surfaces without getting hit.The suspension fork on the Overdrive comes with a claimed 1mm travel but during the test ride the travel worked up to 65-7mm at the most. This travel was sufficient for rough surfaces on urban roads.

: The Overdrive 27.5T comes equipped with Shimano Tourney TY5 in the front and rear as derailleurs. The derailleur setup from Shimano was basic and provided decent shifting performance for short rides. The Shimano EF5 EasyFire 21-Speed shifters felt easy to use with quick and responsive spring actions.

: The bicycle which I test rode came in a full Orange frame with Blue and Black as the secondary colours. The adjoining top and bottom tubes not only make the frame stronger but also make it look sturdy and bulky. The matte finish paint job was top notch in quality. The custom Overdrive saddle was stylish in design with a premium finish.

: The Repute Mechanical Disc brakes at the front and rear were sufficient for precise and safe braking performance on dry and wet urban roads. During the test ride, when braking on fast turns and on flat muddy surfaces, it felt balanced and had a quick response time.The 68mm Alloy handlebar on the Overdrive was wide and gave an open chested riding posture which was perfect for keeping the bicycle in full control on fast flat trails and urban roads. The grips were comfortable on the palms.

: The Hero Sprint Pro Overdrive 27.5T rolls on a pair of DSI 27.5” x 2.1” MTB tires along with Spur XCR Alloy double walled rims. The treading was bulky and evenly spaced out, giving superior traction on flat muddy surfaces. The stock racing PU saddle was sporty in design with the perfect length and width to keep the rider comfortable and stable.

: This hardtail Steel MTB was comfortable to ride with an open chested handlebar posture. The Shimano Tourney 21-Speed derailleurs were smooth in shifting during the test ride. The Mechanical Disc brakes were powerful and balanced. The well-treaded 27.5” tires made it easier to roll over bumpy and rough surfaces.
