EMotorad T-Rex Air 27.5 - Text Review

The steel hardtail frame gives the T-Rex Air a sturdy base. While many bikes in this segment might compromise durability for weight, this model prioritises robustness. The inclusion of a front suspension fork further confirms its ambition to handle more than just smooth roads.

In practice, you’d feel confident navigating uneven roads or minor trail stretches — the hardtail design balances stiffness for pedaling and slightly forgiving ride quality for mixed surfaces.

With a 7-speed Shimano TY300 (or similar) setup, the T-Rex Air provides a good basic gear range. It’s not ultralight racing spec, but for commuting + adventure mix it’s appropriate.

Shifts are reported to be reliable, given proper set-up and maintenance. For urban starts, trailing off traffic or climbing small inclines, the 7-speed system offers flexibility. Paired with pedal-assist and motor support, the gear system amplifies the ride rather than just being the sole drive.

The 100 mm front suspension fork and the option of 2.4″ tyres in the 27.5″ size help absorb bumps and provide comfortable ride feel. The combination makes the T-Rex Air more than a purely urban bike; it invites occasional off-road or trail-edge use.

For daily commutes on rough roads, potholes, or mixed surfaces, this setup will feel more forgiving than rigid-fork city-only bikes. At the same time, the ride remains relatively efficient — you’re not slowed down dramatically by overly soft suspension or fat tyres.

Mechanical disc brakes with auto cut-off enhance safety and control. On dry and reasonably good road surfaces they perform well. As with any mechanical disc system, fine tuning and regular maintenance (pad wear, cable stretch) matter.

If you ride heavily in wet, muddy or aggressive terrain, you might wish for hydraulic discs — but at this price and class the mechanical disc choice is understandable and service-friendly.

Wheels: double-wall alloy rims (in some specs “double-wall aluminium alloy rims”) give strength and durability.
Tyres: 27.5″ × 2.4″ (for the variant) deliver a good blend of speed and grip.

Weight: ~22.4 kg — relatively moderate for an e-cycle with motor & battery. Load capacity ~110 kg.
