Polygon Siskiu D7 LG 27.5 (with Cues) - Text Review

The Polygon Siskiu D7 has long been a benchmark for value in the full-suspension trail bike category. The 27.5-inch wheel version (often preferred for its agility and playfulness) continues this tradition, offering a modern, capable platform. The most recent iterations, specifically the models featuring the durable Shimano CUES group set, position the D7 as an all-rounder XC/Trail bike ready to take on everything from local singletrack loops to all-day epics.

The heart of the Siskiu D7 is the ALX XC Trail Frame, a robust yet lightweight aluminum structure. Polygon has successfully implemented modern trail geometry: a slacker head tube angle (aiding stability on descents) and a steeper effective seat tube angle (improving climbing posture and power transfer). This blend of angles delivers a bike that climbs like a hardworking cross-country machine but handles descents with the confidence of a more aggressive trail bike.

The rear suspension utilizes an optimized single-pivot/Faux Bar linkage system, offering 120mm of plush travel with an anti-squat kinematic tuned for better pedaling efficiency meaning less wasted energy on the climbs. The frame is Boost spacing compliant and features clean internal cable routing, enhancing durability and aesthetics. For the 27.5" wheel size, the geometry provides a particularly playful and nimble feel, excelling in tight turns and technical maneuvers.

The geometry is spot on for a modern trail bike—stable when fast, and quick to turn when the trail gets twisty.

The inclusion of the Shimano CUES RD-U6000 1x11 drivetrain is a major highlight. CUES, and specifically the Link glide technology it utilizes, is renowned for its exceptional durability and smooth shifting under load, which is perfect for trail riding where shifts often occur when climbing or under pressure.

The massive 11-50T cassette coupled with a single front chainring delivers a gear range comparable to many 12-speed systems, providing an easy-to-use setup with a gear low enough for the steepest pitches and high enough for fast fire roads. The single chainring simplifies the cockpit and reduces maintenance. Shifting was consistently crisp and reliable throughout my testing, proving the CUES system to be a workhorse.

The Shimano CUES drivetrain is the unsung hero of this build—reliable, simple, and offers all the range you need for any trail.

Full Suspension: 120mm of travel front (RockShox Recon Silver RL) and rear (RockShox Deluxe Select Plus) effectively absorbs bumps and chatter on the trail, significantly reducing rider fatigue compared to a hardtail.

Modern Geometry: The design features a steep seat tube angle for an efficient and comfortable seated climbing position and a slacker head tube angle for stability and confidence when descending.
Dropper Post: The included TranzX dropper post allows quick saddle adjustment, improving control and safety (and therefore comfort) on steep downhill sections.

Playful Feel: The 27.5-inch wheels contribute to a nimble and lively feel, which can be less physically demanding in tight, technical sections.

It offers a plush, supportive, and confidence-inspiring ride that is excellent for long, varied trail days.

Stopping power is handled by Shimano MT201 hydraulic disc brakes. While a common entry-level spec, they provide reliable and consistent modulation and power, which is a significant upgrade over mechanical or rim brakes. The 180mm front rotor offers extra confidence and heat dissipation on long descents.

The inclusion of a TranzX Dropper Post (150mm/170mm drop depending on size) is non-negotiable for serious trail riding and is a huge value add. It functioned reliably, dropping the saddle quickly for aggressive descending and popping back up instantly for the next climb.

The 27.5" wheels utilize alloy double-wall, tubeless-ready rims with a wide 30mm internal width, offering great support for the 2.25" trail tires. The wheels felt sturdy and enhanced the D7's characteristic nimble handling.

The Polygon Siskiu D7 27.5 (with Cues) is arguably one of the best value full-suspension mountain bikes available. It delivers a modern trail riding experience with a geometry that promotes both climbing efficiency and downhill fun. The excellent component selection, particularly the durable and reliable Shimano CUES 1x11 drivetrain and the standard-issue dropper post, sets it apart from the competition. It’s the perfect choice for an intermediate rider looking for a first full-suspension bike, or a seasoned rider seeking an affordable, playful trail rig.
