XCi Acer 27.5T SS - Review

The Frame of the XCi Acer 27.5T SS has been made using Steel. Though Steel frames are typically associated with being bulky and heavy, the Acer 27.5T SS is surprisingly lightweight. The frame geometry ensures a comfortable and relaxed ‘upright’ riding position without compromising on performance. The frame has the provision to attach a water bottle holder to it.This Bicycle is equipped with a Steel rigid fork that is lightweight and strong. The design of the fork is such that there is only minimal transfer of vibrations to the handlebar and the rider can withstand a range of riding conditions with ease.

The XCi Acer 27.5T comes equipped with a Single-Speed drivetrain. Pedalling was easy on flat and rough surfaces. It is a bit of a struggle to pedal on inclines which will require extra effort. The positives of a Single-Speed drivetrain is that it is easy to maintain and simple to ride.

The XCi Acer 27.T SS that we test rode came in a primary Colour of Blue with Yellow and White as the secondary colours for the graphics and text. This colour combination is eye catchy and is sure to stand out from the crowd. This City Bike comes with Plastic Mudguards at the front and rear, which are not only useful for City riding, it also adds to the aesthetic appeal of this Bicycle.

The City Bicycle from XCi comes equipped with a pair of V-Brakes. When on the test ride, we found that the brakes were extremely powerful and responsive. Feathered braking felt comfortable and stable requiring with just a light press of the brake levers to activate.The wide handlebar ensures an ‘open-chested’ riding position that is comfortable. Additionally, the length of the handlebar ensured supreme control of the Bicycle and quick handling and maneuvering while in congested riding conditions, such as traffic ridden urban roads. The bar grips are slightly hard, but this does not affect the overall performance of the bicycle.

The XCi Acer rolls on a pair of Hi-Traction Nylon 27.5" X 1.95" tires which are attached to double walled alloy rims. The tires well treaded – thus ensuring that they are fast rolling with adequate grip for usage on flat surfaces. Cornering is balanced and safe, with the ability to take quick and sharp turns.The stock Saddle was well cushioned and will give the rider a sore-free ride.
